How to Sort Out Your Wardrobe

Wednesday, 16 January 2013

Sorting out my wardrobe is one of those tasks I tend to put off doing because I know it's going to take a long time to complete. Yesterday, I finally got around to sorting it all out (took about 3 hours) and I am much happier with it. I got rid of all the things I no longer wear and now there is a lot more space. Clearing out your wardrobe is a bit like clearing your mind. You need to free some space to make room for new things.

This is how I went about it:

1. Remove all clothes from wardrobe.

2. Clean wardrobe.

3. Sorted my clothes into 3 piles: The clothes I'll keep, the clothes I need to fix/maybe pile and the clothes I've not worn in a year.

4. The pieces I decided not to keep anymore were those that I bought but never wore (or wore often), went out of style, didn't fit perfectly or those that weren't very comfortable.

5. Fold up pieces again, put all spring/summer clothing at the bottom of my wardrobe and the autumn/winter clothing at the top of my wardrobe. Hang up jackets, coats, things that may get creased.

Sorted! You will feel so much better afterwards.
